Steve Webster finally broke through to claim his first European Tour victory this week at the Telecom Italia Open. The only man to shoot four sub-70 rounds finished three shots clear to claim the title and earn his fans 216,660 fantasy points as the top pick from Pool C.
Denmark's Anders Hansen kick-started his season this week with his first top ten finish in 2005. A slightly disappointing 72 was the only glitch in an otherwise superb week for the Dane, who earned 96,940 fantasy points for his fans as the best placed player in Pool B.
Two other golfers finished in a share of second place with Hansen including Welshman Bradley Dredge and Englishman Richard Finch who both also earned 96,940 fantasy points for finishing top of Pool B and Pool E respectively. A solid week of golf for Welshman Dredge secured his best finish in 2005, with Finch achieving his best finish so far on the European Tour, having only recently graduated from Qualifying School after finishing 10th in San Roque. Tour veteran, Italian golfer Emanuele Canonica, also claimed his first top ten finish of 2005, finishing fifth and earning 55,120 fantasy points for his fans.
Team of the Week went to "Benkies" managed by Alisdair Welch, who earned an impressive 408,532 fantasy points from a possible total of 562,600.
