The European Tour travels from Augusta to China for this week's Shenzhen International, the 17th event in this year's Race To Dubai. Whilst it is the inaugural edition of the event, several players have played well on this course before and are in form, ready to make a run towards a title. Here's a handful of players our stats guru thinks are worth a selection on yourFantasy Race To Dubaiteam this week:
Alexander Levy
Whilst Levy might not have had the 2015 he would have hoped for thus far, he is well rested and ready to contend again in China this week. It is less than a year since the Frenchman won his first European Tour event on the very same course, with a four shot victory at the 2014 Volvo China Open. He went on to pick up another win later in the season at the Portugal Masters before coming close again in China at the BMW Masters, where he eventually lost out in a play-off to Marcel Siem. Last season he was also one of only four players to rank inside the top 25 on The European Tour in Driving Distance, Greens In Regulation and Stroke Average (alongside Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson and Danny Willett).
Pablo Larrazabal
Another well rested contender this week is Pablo Larrazabal, as the Spaniard will tee it up for just the second time in over two months this week and no doubt looking for a fourth European Tour title. In his last start, in Morocco three weeks ago, Larrazabal put together four impressive rounds to finish in a tie for third. As for China, the 31 year old has enjoyed his recent visits to the Far East. He shot four rounds of 72 or less on this course last year whilst he also finished fifth in Tianjin at the 2013 Volvo China Open. In his last start in China, Larrazabal also shot 69-68 over the weekend to finish in the top 15 at the WGC-HSBC Champions.
Tommy Fleetwood
Having narrowly missed out on his first invitation to Augusta, Fleetwood arrives in China ready to exact revenge on a course he played so well on last year. The Englishman finished second to Levy at Genzon Golf Club last year, one of three runner up finishes during a strong 2014 campaign. An impressive final round in Morocco also saw Fleetwood finish in the top 15 last time out, as he showed further signs of the form that saw him finish 19th in the 2014 Race To Dubai. Of all the players in this week’s field, only Quiros and Colsaerts are hitting more greens this season than Fleetwood.
Chris Wood
Another Englishman ready to compete this week is Chris Wood, having made his return to The European Tour last month after five months away with a wrist injury, where Wood’s performance in Morocco showed he has not lost a step with regard to his form. A closing 67 in Agadir saw the 27 year old finish tied for third and head to China full of confidence. With 29 European Tour top tens already to his name, Wood will be looking to mark his comeback with a win in Shenzhen.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat
Aphibarnrat travels from his home in Bangkok to Shenzhen this week in search of his second European Tour victory. The 25 year old finished fourth in his last European Tour start and has notched top six finishes in five of his last 11 worldwide starts this season. The long hitting Thai player also has a deft touch on the greens, as shown by impressive putting displays this season. He ranks eighth on The European Tour in 2015 in Putts Per Green In Regulation.
