Paul Casey
The Englishman has already won once this year in Dubai at the Desert Classic. He is the highest ranked player in the field (27th). With his caddy Johnny McLaren taking some time out at the end of this year. The pair will be looking to go out on top with a win.
Tommy Fleetwood
Fleetwood has been practicing in Dubai for weeks so will be feeling right at home. He plays his best stuff in the Middle East, winning twice in Abu Dhabi and hardly finishing outside the top 10 around the Earth course. The Fire course is part of the same complex on Jumeriah Golf Estates. He came 7th on his last European Tour start and will want to improve on his 13th position in the Race to Dubai standings
Andy Sullivan
T2nd here last year, Andy is another player which seems to save his best stuff for Dubai.
He’s had 3 top 10’s in 6 years at the DP World Championships. They’ll be using the same facilities and club house which will bring back fond memories. I know his form hasn’t been good but I think Dubai will bring back the feel good factor to Sulli’s game

Bernd Wiesberger
The Ryder Cupper has been in good form of late with T12 and T11 finishes in Spain in his two starts since teeing it up at Whistling Straits. He’s not a massive hitter so the fact the Fire Course at Jumeirah doesn’t play particularly long will play into his hands and allow his excellent iron play – he sits 2nd in ‘strokes gained - approach’. He also finished T8 here last year.
Dean Burmester
The 32-year-old bomber won the Sunshine Tour’s PGA Championship in his native South Africa last week. His second European Tour win at the Tenerife Open earlier this year came with a -25 winning total and this event last year was also won on -25, so we know he can rack up the eagles and birdies required at a shoot-out. He’s 8th on the European Tour in scoring average (69.64) and 7th in birdies per round (4.47) this year.
Franceso Laporta
The Italian had his best-ever European Tour finish with a T2 here last year. He came into that week without a top-10 all year, but he arrives in much better form this week. He’s had three top-7 finishes in his last six starts, including a 7th in the Portugal Masters last week – albeit he has missed a couple of cuts in those last six events as well. His putting can be a weakness, but his form overrides that concern.
