Fantasy Three to Watch in Abu Dhabi

It almost goes without saying, but you probably want to put Martin Kaymer in your Fantasy team this week - the German and Abu Dhabi Golf Club are pretty much a match made in heaven. Despite being without a win in the last two seaons, if there was a venue designed for Kaymer to break that drought it might just be here. Looking to join an elite group of players to win the same European Tour event four or more times, the 32 year old Dusseldorf native has an incredible record at this venue, having won on three occasions (2008, 2010 and 2011), finished runner-up in 2009, third in 2015 and sixth in 2013.

It’s been a thunderous rise to prominence for Jordan L Smith, who did his global profile no harm by finishing in third place behind Rory McIlroy and Graeme Storm at last week’s BMW SA Open. The hotly-tipped Englishman only turned professional in 2014, topped the PGA EuroPro Tour Order of Merit the following year to claim his Challenge Tour card, and won twice last year en route to topping the Rankings in highly impressive fashion.

It is, however, the location of those two wins which rings a bell this week in Abu Dhabi, with Smith’s two victories in 2016 coming in this very region – firstly at the Red Sea Egyptian Challenge and latterly at the Ras Al Khaimah Golf Challenge, 150 miles up the coast from the United Arab Emirates capital.
