Fantasy Three to Watch in Mexico

The best players the world are in Mexico ahead of the first World Golf Championship event of the year. Club de Golf Chapultepec hosts the event for the first time and provides a unique challenge. Situation more than 7,800 feet above sea level, the tree-lined layout places an emphasis on accurate, shaped tee shots. Scoring is set to be low also, with the last winner at the this course shooting 17 under par back in 2014.

Henrik Stenson

With no course form to talk about, who should you put in yourDaily Fantasy team? Our statistics expert has picked these three players for you selection.

Henrik Stenson at Emirates GC's first hole

The reigning Race to Dubai champion has started 2017 as he finished 2016 with two top tens including a runner-up finish in Dubai in his last appearance. Going further back, the Swede has finished inside the top ten in eight of his last 11 starts worldwide and has four top tens in his last six WGC strokeplay events. Stenson has won in seven different countries on the European Tour (England, Qatar, Germany, United Arab Emirates, USA, South Africa and Scotland) and has proved that his game can travel. Having picked up his first Major in 2016, the 40 year old will be keen to notch his first WGC crown since the Match Play ten years ago.

Form horse: Justin Rose

Justin Rose

Having battled injury late last year, Justin Rose appears to be in a good run of health, and a good run of form, arriving in Mexico this week. Three top four finishes in his last four worldwide starts prove his game in sharp shape starting the season and hard work on a new putting method appear to be paying off as well. He won this event, albeit at a different course, five years ago and has seven top tens in WGC strokeplay dating back to 2011. The strength of Rose's game, tee to green, would appear to suit the Club de Golf Chapultepec layout.

Wildcard: Alex Noren

Alex Noren

With four European Tour wins in the last seven months Alex Noren is always a threat, wherever he tees it up. Whilst the Swede is yet to perform at that same level in Majors and WGCs, just one top ten in 25 combined starts, he does arrive in Mexico on the back of his best WGC finish of T12th at last year's WGC HSBC Champions. Many believe the elevation of the course this week will have it play similar to Crans-sur-Sierre, home of the Omega European Masters, which Noren has won twice including last year. Noren has three top 25 finishes in four starts so far this season but could add some value in your Fantasy team in a strong field this week in Mexico.

Those are our picks, now it’s time to make yours. Good luck!
