Fantasy Three to Watch in Qatar

The Tour travels the short distance from Abu Dhabi to Qatar this week for the 20th Commerical Bank Qatar Masters at Doha Golf Club. A raw, windy, desert style course awaits the field for the second event of the Desert Swing and while it's nestled between Abu Dhabi and Dubai on the schedule, the Qatar Masters plays very differently to its two neighbours in the Race to Dubai.

Qatar Masters

With that in mind, our statistics guru has suggested the following three players for yourDaily Fantasy Teamthis week in South Africa.

Pick of the favourites: Alex Noren

Alex Noren at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

There is little doubt that Alex Noren was one of the stories of 2016 in golf. Coming back from a wrist injury, the 34 year old won four times on the European Tour and finished the year ranked inside the top ten in the world. Asthis photoshows, he is working hard to back up his success last year with a quick start to 2017. Noren finished in the top 15 in Abu Dhabi last week, at a course he has struggled on in the past. Known as a good player in the wind and adverse weather, the Swede has had success in Qatar in recent years with two top ten finishes in his last three appearances. Avoiding bogey and double bogey can make a huge difference at Doha Golf Club and only Henrik Stenson averaged fewer bogeys than Noren in 2016.

Form horse: Bernd Wiesberger

Bernd Wiesberger

Bernd Wiesberger continues to fly under the radar on Tour despite perhaps being in the form of his career. Whilst the Austrian has just one win (2015 Open de France) in the last four years, he arrives in Doha on the back of three straight top five appearances in Turkey, Dubai and last week in Abu Dhabi. In fact, Wiesberger has finished in the top ten on the European Tour in seven of his last eight starts. Having missed the cut in Qatar in three of his first four visits, the 31 year old appears to have found the key to Doha Golf Club in recent years, finishing in the top 15 in each of the last two years with a scoring average of 69.

Wildcard: Bradley Dredge

Bradley Dredge

At 43 years old and without a win in over ten years, Bradley Dredge probably isn't going to be one of the more popular picks in Fantasy this week. However, he may be worth selection. Few if any players will have more experience than the Welshman in Qatar. He has made 15 appearances, finishing in the top 25 seven times and narrowly missing out last year with a fourth place finish. Not long off the tee, Dredge's game is built around consistency and impressive wedge control. Having finished runner-up twice in 2016 en route to a career best money haul, the two-time winner on Tour will be keen to replicate the likes of Padraig Harrington by winning in his 40s. Worth nothing his top 20 finish at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship last week, on a course that typically doesn't suit his game.

Those are our picks, now it’s time to make yours. Whether you are playing theFantasy Race to Dubaior our newDaily Fantasy Game, be sure to make your picks before Wednesday night. Good luck!
