Ewen Ferguson has been voted the DP World Tour Golfer of the Month
Scotsman Ewen Ferguson has been named March's Golfer of the Month presented by DP World with 59.6% of the public vote.
The 25-year-old won his first DP World Tour title at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in some of the toughest conditions we’ve seen so far this season. After starting the final round three strokes off the lead, Ferguson chipped in for eagle on the short par four 16th before holing a 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th to take the lead. He would go on the win by a shot from American Chase Hanna as the leaders all struggled on a blustery day in Qatar.
Earlier that month, Ferguson had held the 54-hole lead in at the Magical Kenya Open, eventually finishing eighth and also made both cuts in South Africa. Thriving in the firm, windy conditions of Qatar, the young Scot would go on to secure a two-year exemption on the DP World Tour, rising to 15th on the DP World Tour Rankings.
Second in the voting was Pablo Larrazábal who won the MyGolfLife Open and his sixth DP World Tour title. The Spaniard continued his love affair with South Africa, where he won his last DP World Tour title at Leopard Creek. His victory came in a three-man play off with Jordan Smith and Adri Arnaus where he birdied both holes thanks to incredible wedge shots, the first nearly going in. Larrazábal climbed to 11th on the DP World Tour Rankings.
Shaun Norris came in third after his picking up his first DP World Tour title in his home country of South Africa. Norris carded a 25-under par total at the Steyn City Championship to win by three shots.
Ashun Wu of China rounded off the voting. He won the Magical Kenya Open hosted in the country’s capital, Nairobi. Wu improved his scoring every day with rounds of 69-68-66-65. His win would be his fourth on the DP World Tour.
