England’’s Richard Finch has soared to the top of Category 11 after the second Re-Rank of the season on the back of some superb performances which have lifted him to 43rd on The European Tour Order of Merit.
Finch followed a joint second finish in the Telecom Italia Open in May with another strong showing in the Open de France the following month, when he finished joint fourth, to take his season’’s earnings to €339,905.
Frenchman Francois Delamontagne was one of the players who shared fourth place with Finch at Le Golf National and that performance along with his eighth place in the Nissan Irish Open have helped lift him to second place in Category 11 after the Re-Rank and 50th on the Order of Merit.
But the biggest mover has been Martin Erlandsson of Sweden. Erlandsson claimed the 35th card at the Qualifying School last November. But after joint second in The Celtic Manor Wales Open and other strong finishes in the Aa St Omer Open and the Open de France he has climbed to third in Category 11 and 64th on The European Tour Order of Merit.
Players in Category 11 of The 2005 European Tour were re-ranked as follows:
(i) As at May 2, the top 20 official money winners from within Category 11 on the 2005 European Tour Order of Merit were ranked 1-20 in money order in Category 11 and the remainder followed on in the order established at the Qualifying School. The first tournament entry deadline to be affected was the Telecom Italia Open.
(ii) As at July 25, all players in Category 11 were re-ranked in order of official money won on the 2005 European Tour Order of Merit. The first tournament entry deadline to be affected was the Scandinavian Masters by Carlsberg.
