Englishman Fisher and South Africa’s Coetzee were five under par after ten holes at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, two shots ahead of nearest challenger Danny Willett of England, himself one ahead of a large chasing pack.

Fisher and Coetzee, both three under through eight holes, birdied the par-five ninth and tenth holes during so far flawless rounds.

South Africa’s Dawie van der Walt had carded the first eagle of the 2015 Race To Dubai to take an early lead.

Miguel Angel Jiménez was the first player to tee off at the Gary Player Country Club, which boasts the second longest course in European Tour history, at 7,831 yards.
