Powerful drives and accurate approach play paved the way for Ross Fisher's maiden European Tour triumph, according to the Genworth Financial Statistics.
The Englishman won The KLM Open after a thrilling final round at Kennemer Golf and Country Club, where he was pushed all the way by home favourite Joost Luiten before winning by the narrowest of margins. The way Fisher played the 72nd hole was a classic example of how he had played all week when he smashed a drive right down the middle, hit his approach to eight feet and holed the putt.
With an average of 303.8 yards, he was the longest hitter during the week and he was also seventh in the Greens in Regulation category, hitting an impressive 75 per cent of the greens. Alastair Forsyth was the only player from the top ten who performed better than Fisher in this category, the Scot hitting 76.4 per cent of the greens in regulation.
