There were plenty of thrilling matches on Wednesday but here's the five matches we think could be the best on day two in of the WGC-Cadillac Match Play Championship. All times are in local San Francisco time.
Adam Scott vs Paul Casey (11:30am)
Paul Casey and Adam Scott had very different opening days. Scott played only 14 holes before conceding a short putt to Francesco Molinari which marked a 5 and 4 loss for the World Number 9. Meanwhile, Casey endured the longest tie of the day, a scrappy 22-hole affair with Chris Kirk. Casey notched a win, however, and a will hope to keep the momentum going at an event in which he's finished runner-up in two of his last three appearances. A loss for Scott would mean heading home and finishing outside the top 30 in four straight events for the first time since 2010.
Rory McIlroy vs Brandt Snedeker (11:50am)
Like Scott and Casey, Rory McIlroy and Brandt Snedeker were on two different ends of the spectrum on Wednesday. The World Number One made just one birdie but eased to a 5 and 4 win over Jason Dufner, while Snedeker struggled on the greens falling to Billy Horschel by the same score. Whilst many will expect Rory to continue his dominance on Thursday, a hot Snedeker putter could make for an exciting day two match-up.
Justin Rose vs Anirban Lahiri (12.30pm)
Many brackets were busted by Justin Rose's shock defeat to World Number 60 Marc Leishman on the opening day. Last week's Zurich Classic winner will need to regain his form, and quickly, to pick up a win on day two. He faces red-hot Lahiri who's already lifted two European Tour titles this season and made six birdies and no bogeys during his opening 4 and 2 victory over Ryan Palmer. Seven months ago Rose was the leading points scorer at The 2014 Ryder Cup. Meanwhile, six months ago, Lahiri was battling it out for his card at the European Tour Qualifying School. None of that will matter when the pair tee off just after noon in San Francisco.
Jason Day vs Branden Grace (1:50pm)
Look out for some attacking golf in the 1.50pm tee time. Defending champion, Jason Day, will be chomping at the bit to get out on the course and forget about his 4 and 3 loss to Charley Hoffman. His opponent Branden Grace, like Lahiri, has won two European Tour events already this season but lost his opening match against Zach Johnson. Whilst this is just the second match for both men, whoever loses will be going home.
Patrick Reed vs Danny Willett (2:50pm)
The penultimate tee time on Thursday is sure to entertain. Willett, who sits second in The 2015 Race To Dubai, will face off against the enigmatic Patrick Reed. Both players got their weeks off to a winning start on Wednesday defeating Ryan Moore and Andy Sullivan respectively. Expect to see some aggressive play and lots of chatting-to-golf-balls in this match-up!
