Follow in the footsteps of golfing legends

Since staging an unforgettable Ryder Cup in 2010, the Celtic Manor Resort has become a must-play venue for golfers from all over the world.

Also the home of the European Tour’s Cazoo Open and the Celebrity Cup, a star-studded battle of the home nations, the five-star resort boasts three spectacular championship courses set in 2,000 acres of panoramic parkland in the Usk Valley.

For those with time to stay as well as play, Celtic Manor offers the perfect destination for a golfing leisure break with more than 670 bedrooms available in four hotels, including the Coldra Court, where golfers can relax and watch the latest sporting action in the bar.

The jewel in Celtic Manor’s golfing crown is the Twenty Ten Course which played host to all that Ryder Cup drama in the autumn of 2010.

Take on the challenges faced by the world’s best golfers amid some stunning scenery and attempt to replicate the heroics of Graeme McDowell, who holed a sensational birdie putt on the 16th hole to bring home the winning point and regain the trophy for Team Europe.

The Montgomerie and Roman Road courses offer two more exhilarating, 18-hole examinations of your golf game, adding up to the perfect destination for an extended golf break.

The Twenty Ten

Built at a total cost of £20 million, The Twenty Ten is the first golf course in history to be designed specifically for the Ryder Cup. Also the stage for the Cazoo Open, the course has become a must-play layout for any golfer.

Set against the magnificent backdrop of the beautiful Usk Valley, the 7,493-yard layout includes many memorable risk and reward challenges, designed to provide a supreme test to the world’s best players.

The Twenty Ten Course also boasts a luxurious clubhouse with bar and restaurant, balconies offering panoramic views of the course, spike bar, pro shop, private members’ lounge and sumptuous locker rooms which still carry the name plaques of the Ryder Cup players and evoke the rich history of the world’s greatest team tournament.

The Roman Road

Designed by Robert Trent Jones and host venue for the Wales Open from 2005 to 2007, the Roman Road championship course takes its name from the ancient east to west highway of Roman Britain crossing its fairways to the nearby fortress town of Caerleon.

Bordered by woodland, this challenging track features some long, open fairways but also a number of twists and turns, through trees and across streams, as well as some treacherous sloping greens. The Roman Road staged the Wales Senior Open in 2015 and 2016, and is also the home of the Celebrity Cup.

The Montgomerie

Featuring some dramatic tee shots over valleys and breathtaking downhill approaches, course designer Colin Montgomerie has called on all his Ryder Cup experience to create many exciting tests of strategy.

He has also drawn on his roots in Scottish links golf to create a traditional feel, enhanced by deep and penal pot bunkers and complemented by some stunning views over the Usk Valley and Severn Estuary.

The Golf Academy

The Celtic Manor Golf Academy is one of the best facilities of its kind in Europe and was appointed the Wales National Centre of Excellence in 2009, when a new short game practice area was opened by Arnold Palmer.

A team of PGA professionals are ready to sharpen your game and the leading names in golf club manufacture have kitted out the studios, creating state of the art custom fitting centres.

Stay and Play

The apres-golf is every bit as memorable with luxurious accommodation, sparkling spa facilities and no fewer than seven restaurants to choose from as your 19th Hole.

Packages to stay one night and play two courses are always exceptional value for the quality of golf on offer – or stay two nights and play all three.

So why not follow in the footsteps of the world’s greatest golfers and enjoy your own world-class experience at Celtic Manor?
