World number 5 Justin Rose ranked well in most of the Genworth Statistics categories over a course that has been significantly toughened up compared to previous years. For the round he managed 13/18 Greens in Regulation and Scrambled successfully 4/5 times. Best of all, Justin led the field alongside five other players for scoring on the Par 5 holes (with a 4.25 average) and holed a greenside bunker shot for birdie on his final hole (the 9th).

Jamie DONALDSON -5
Considering the playing conditions, Jamie Donaldson drove the ball well, hitting 64.3% of the fairways (9/14). He was also pretty accurate into the greens (12/18). But it was his short game that really sparkled with 9 single putts over the 18 holes and a Genworth Scrambles statistic of 83.3% (5/6). Jamie scored under Par for each of the different hole types, including leading the Par 5 Scoring statistic alongside Rose, Coetzee, Singh, Whiteford and Mulroy.

Genworth Statistics of the marquee group
On a day where the field as a whole averaged approximately 50% of Fairways in Regulation, incredibly the eagerly awaited marquee group managed a total of just 13 Fairways in Regulation between them out of a possible 42 (that's 31%). Their wayward driving combined with the penal rough quickly put a stop to any potential low scores, turning it into a day for survival. Martin and Tiger managed to keep their scores respectable but Rory just couldn’t get anything going. Below we list their Round 1 Genworth Statistics side by side.
