A breezy first day over the Greg Norman designed Jaypee Greens course at the Avantha Masters saw no less than 77 players (approximately 50% of the field) breaking Par, with 44 of those shooting in the 60's. We analyse the first round performance of Chinnarat Phadungsil, plus round up the early leaders of the Genworth Statistics.
Chinnarat PHADUNGSIL
An incredible round of 61 saw Chinnarat Phadungsil jump out into a five shot lead. Interestingly the 24 year old rising star from Thailand only managed 42.9% of the fairways from the tee, but his overall approach play was excellent and his Genworth Putting Statistics were as good as it gets. With 14 single putts contributing to a total of 11 birdies (including seven in a row on the back nine), this round will most definitely be remembered for all the right reasons. All eyes will be on Chinnarat in Round 2 tomorrow.
