David Higgins converted an impressive nine birdies against three bogeys on his way to an opening 64, to lead the Hong Kong Open by one at the close of Day 1. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 41 year old Irish golfer was consistent from tee to green, ranking 14th for Driving Accuracy and 19th for Greens in Regulation, but he recorded some fantastic numbers with the putter as well (25 Putts per Round to rank 1st and 1.500 Putts per GIR to rank 2nd). After losing his full playing rights at the end of the 2013 season, David now has a great chance to push himself back up the rankings this week on a course that really suits his game.

Andrea PAVAN -5
Andrea Pavan converted six birdies against a single bogey on his way to an opening 65. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 24 year old Italian golfer hit 14/18 Greens in Regulation (the same as the leader) and also holed his fair share of putts on the firm Hong Kong greens. After finishing the 2013 season on top of the Challenge Tour rankings and also starting the 2014 season well (with results of 37th and 11th in the recent South African events), don’t be surprised to see this up and coming talent feature on numerous leaderboards over the next twelve months.
