Following an enthralling first two days of play at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, which included penalty shots and the world number one and two missing the cut, we analyse the performances of the leaders plus list their Genworth Statistics side by side (ordered by Round 3 Tee Times).

Justin Rose and Gonzalo Fdez-Castaño are playing superb golf from tee to green. After two rounds Gonzalo is leading both the Par 4 Scoring statistic and the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic, with Justin following close behind. They are making few mistakes and scrambling well but Justin has the edge on the greens so far. Saturday could well be an exhibition of quality ball striking with these two long game specialists playing together.

Jamie Donaldson is driving the ball long and straight. He is hitting a reasonable number of greens and is putting extremely well (ranking high in all of the Genworth Putting Statistics categories). His Par 5 Scoring is 4.38 (tied 1st) and his Birdies per Round is 5.50 (also tied 1st). Thorbjørn on the other hand is slightly less accurate off the tee, but still managing to hit enough greens to score well. And just look at his Genworth Scrambles statistic. He has made 10/11 up and downs for Par which is outstanding.

Statistically both Garth Mulroy and Joost Luiten are performing very well without any one facet of their games being outstanding. Garth has struggled a little on the Par 3 holes in comparison to the other players at the very top of the leaderboard, but he ranks tied 1st for Par 5 Scoring. Joost’s short game is very sharp and both players are single putting just about 50% of the time.
