At the finish of the third round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship we analyse the performances of the leading players, plus list their Genworth Statistics side by side (ordered by Round 4 Tee Times).

In 2012 Justin Rose finished on top of the Greens in Regulation statistic on both the European Tour and the PGA Tour, and he brings that control in his game to Abu Dhabi this week. After three rounds he once again leads the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic with 45 successes out of 54 attempts (83.3%), and he has made more birdies than any other player in the field except for our Genworth Ambassador, Peter Hanson. If Justin can hold off his peers tomorrow he will enjoy a wire to wire victory.
Thorbjørn Olesen has made just one bogey in 54 holes. He has been solid off the tee and he is hitting a lot of greens, but it is his Genworth Scrambles Statistic that really stands out. Out of 13 attempts he has converted 12 times (92.3%). Thorbjørn also leads the Par 3 Scoring statistic with a 3.83 average.

Jamie Donaldson is continuing to drive the ball long and straight. The combination of 9th in Driving Distance and 14th in Driving Accuracy is excellent. He is scoring well across the different hole types (being the Par 3’s, Par 4’s and Par 5’s) and he is making lots of birdies over the tough course layout.
Following on from his 3rd place finish last week at the Volvo Golf Champions event, Thongchai Jaidee will have a second bite at the cherry in as many weeks tomorrow. His short game has been exceptional over the first three rounds. He ranks 3rd for the Genworth Scrambles statistic (with 15/17 up and downs) and he has single putted more than 50% of the time.

Statistically Richie Ramsay is performing best overall from tee to green out of all the players in the field. He ranks 1st for Driving Accuracy and 2nd for Greens in Regulation. His short game and putting statistics tail off a little but that is to be expected with him performing so well with the longer clubs.
David Howell was excellent today. He hit 16 Greens in Regulation and made 4 birdies without dropping a shot, for 68. After three rounds he has been slightly less accurate off the tee compared to the other leading players but he has still managed 74.1% Greens in Regulation. David’s chipping and bunker play has been excellent though, including ranking 2nd for the Genworth Sand Saves statistic (with 5/6 up and downs).
