Genworth Stats Pack - Round 3 Review

Round 3 of the DP WORLD TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP, DUBAI produced 39 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 69.96. We analyse the performances of the main Race to Dubai contenders and tournament front runners, plus we round up the Genworth Statistics leaders.

Henrik STENSON -17

Henrik Stenson finished strongly with four birdies in the last five holes for a third round 67, to maintain the tournament lead by one shot going into Sunday (still with an arms-length between him and his main Race to Dubai rivals). Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 37 year old Swedish golfer continues to dominate the field from tee to green, ranking 1st for Driving Accuracy (with 37/42 fairways) and 1st for Greens in Regulation (with 51/54 greens), plus he leads the Par 4 Scoring with a 3.67 average. With just two bogeys over the first 54 holes, everything seems to be going to plan for the current world number three. Tomorrow may be a very big day in his golfing career.

Victor DUBUISSON -16

Victor Dubuisson converted eleven birdies on his way to a stunning third round 64 (the low round of the day). Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 23 year old French talent is bullying the course into submission from tee to green, perhaps even more impressively than Stenson (although with a few more errors thrown in). He also leads the Par 5 Scoring with a 4.17 average (hitting six of them in sub-regulation) and he has accumulated no less than 24 birdies so far (5 more than any other player). The overall Race to Dubai is now likely beyond reach but who would bet against this up and coming star winning back to back Final Series events tomorrow.

Ian POULTER -13

Ian Poulter converted eight birdies against two bogeys on his way to a third round 66. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 37 year old English golfer is producing some excellent tee to green play (the same as the top two), hitting 34/42 fairways and 43/54 Greens in Regulation (long game consistency definitely seems to be the vital ingredient over the Jumeirah Golf Estates course this week). Note he is also recording some quality numbers with the short stick and scoring heavily on the Par 5’s. The 12-time European Tour winner may now possess the greatest chance of spoiling Stenson’s dream come Sunday afternoon.

Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 49 year old Spanish golfer continues the trend of consistency from tee to green, ranking 2nd for Driving Accuracy and 5th for Greens in Regulation. The only reason he is not right up there contending is a slight lack of birdies on the Par 5 holes (just -2 for the 12 of them played so far).

Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 33 year old English golfer is yet again strong from tee to green, ranking 11th for Driving Accuracy, 4th for Driving Distance and 5th for Greens in Regulation, plus his Par 3 Scoring at 2.58 is extremely impressive. Overall the current world number five has dropped just three shots over the week so far, but he may need a bit of a birdie run to pull this one off come Sunday afternoon.
