Genworth Stats Pack - Summary Report

Jamie Donaldson’s great driving on a course that demanded accuracy from the tee produced the desired knock-on effect through his game this week. Looking at his Genworth Statistics he ranked 15th for Driving Accuracy and 7th for Driving Distance (a great combination). His approach play was excellent hitting 75.0% Greens in Regulations (ranking 8th) and when he missed the green he Scrambled 77.8% of the time (ranking 6th). Jamie also converted on average 5 birdies per round and scored better on both the Par 3 holes and Par 4 holes than all but a couple of the other players.

Justin Rose was not quite as sharp in the final round compared to the first three rounds. He missed out on a playoff following a lip-out on the 18th green and the chance for a wire to wire victory, Overall for the week though Justin finished on top of the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic (a position he has become accustomed to) and our Genworth Ambassador Peter Hanson was the only player in the field to make more birdies (22 compared to Justin’s 21).

Denmark’s rising star Thorbjørn Olesen dropped shots on just two holes through the entire week, thanks to some fantastic scrambling (15/17). He ranked 1st for the Genworth Scrambles statistic and also 1st for Par 4 Scoring (with a 3.85 average). Considering the fact that Thorbjørn has changed equipment manufacture for 2013 (the same as Rory McIlroy), his second place finish (with a missed putt for a playoff on the 18th green) is a pretty good accomplishment.

Ricardo Santos produced a bogey free final round of 68 to finish off an excellent week’s work. The 30 year old Portuguese player (who won the Madeira Islands Open last year) is cementing his position on the European Tour. Looking at his Genworth Tournament Statistics, his short game really stands out. He ranked 7th for Scrambles and 3rd for Sand Saves, and his putting was excellent too.

Branden Grace birdied 5 out of his last 6 holes to shoot the best round of the day (65), spring-boarding him up the leaderboard into 5th position overall. His Genworth Tournament Statistics show a big contrast in his game though. His Driving Accuracy was just 37.5% for the week, ranking him in 68th out of the 70 players that made the cut, and his Greens in Regulation, Scrambles and Sand Saves rankings were all quite average. But just look at his Genworth Putting Statistics. Branden certainly took his chances when presented. He ranked 2nd for Putts per GIR, 6th for Putts per Round and 4th for 1 Putts per Round.
