Hansen closing in on Barham

Søren Hansen was piling the pressure on overnight leader Benn Barham as the final round of the Austrian Golf Open began in Vienna.

Austrian Golf Open - Round Three

The Englishman, ahead after all three rounds so far, took a three shot lead over The Ryder Cup Dane to the first tee but Hansen birdied the first after putting his approach within ten feet.

Barham - seeking his first European Tour win - was struggling to find the fairways but settled his nerves somewhat with a successful 15 foot par putt at the second.

But after finding thick rough off the tee again at the third he was not so lucky and his bogey reduced his lead to one shot at 16 under par.

Australia’s Richard Green was still in the hunt at 13 under, although the left-hander was only level par for the day through his first four holes at a time when birdies were required.

The English pair of David Dixon and David Horsey had demonstrated that low scoring was possible at Fontana Golf Club despite a testing breeze. They were five and four under for their rounds respectively to join compatriot Richard Bland, South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen and Spaniard Rafael Cabrera-Bello on 12 under.
