Sweden’s Peter Hanson was amongst those to make a good start as The European Open got under way at The London Club in Kent.
The SAS Masters winner reached the turn three under and was joined by Spain’s Rafael Cabrera-Bello and Englishman John Bickerton in a share of the lead.
Hanson, 31, started his round at the tenth and birdied the 11th and 12th before picking up a further shot at the long par five 15th.
Cabrera-Bello and Bickerton both raced out of the blocks to join him on three under after only five and four holes respectively - Bickerton’s cause aided by a hole in one at the par three third.
Amongst the group two under par in the early exchanges were Indian pairing Shiv Kapur and Jeev Milkha Singh, English duo Oliver Wilson and Lee Slattery, Sweden’s Joakim Haeggman, Australian Peter Senior, Finland’s Roope Kakko and South African Thomas Aiken.
