Ireland’’s Padraig Harrington and Jean-Francois Remesy of France, who won on opposite sides of the Atlantic last weekend, have confirmed their participation in the Deutsche Bank Players’’ Championship of Europe at Gut Kaden Golf Club near Hamburg from July 21-24.
Harrington, who won the Barclays Classic in New York with a magnificent 65 foot eagle putt on the last hole, returns to the course where he won the Deutsche Bank title in 2003 after a sudden-death play-off with Demark’’s Thomas Björn. The Irish Ryder Cup player will be among the favourites in Germany alongside leading players such as Retief Goosen of South Africa, Germany’’s Bernhard Langer and American John Daly.
Meanwhile Remsey defended the Open de France title at Le Golf National near Paris in spectacular fashion, beating fellow Frenchman Jean Van de Velde in a play-off and he is now looking forward eagerly to playing at Gut Kaden.
