Padraig Harrington put himself into contention for a second win in the US this year with a sizzling second round in the Barclays Classic at Westchester, New York.
Beaten by Sergio Garcia in a play-off in this event last year after four rounds of 68, the Dubliner posted a superb 65 last night to lie in joint third place, two shots adrift of Jim Furyk, who carded a 69 for an eight under par halfway tally.
Beginning at the tenth, Harrington kick-started his charge with an eagle on the par five 18th. Five birdies got him to seven under before the only bogey came at the par four eighth, his 17th. Joining him on six-under were Kenny Perry, Len Mattiace, John Senden and Hidemichi Tanaka.
