Heisele and Stalter join leading group

European Tour rookies Sebastian Heisele and Joël Stalter joined Bernd Wiesberger and Richard Finch at the top of the leaderboard as the first round of the KLM Open was completed at The Dutch.

Finch and Wiesberger had carded matching five under par rounds of 66 on Thursday, before rain and strong winds wiped out the afternoon session.

Qualifying School graduate Heisele carded six birdies against a single bogey as the German joined England’s Finch and Austrian Wiesberger  in a share of the lead.

Frenchman Stalter, who claimed the final card on last season's Challenge Tour, then made it a four-way tie at the top as he notched seven birdies, with a double bogey on the 11th – the hardest hole on the course – his only blemish.

Finland’s Mikko Korhonen, China’s Ashun Wu and Swedish pair Joakim Lagergren and Sebastien Soderling were a shot further back on four under.

There was a landmark moment on Friday morning when Finn Mikko Ilonen struck the European Tour’s 1,000th hole in one, sinking his nine iron on the 14th.
