Hend and Noren lead the way in Crans

Scott Hend and Alex Noren were battling it out for their second European Tour titles of the season as the final round of the Omega European Masters got under way at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club.

Hend won the True Thailand Classic Presented by Chang early in the year while Noren claimed the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open in July as he enjoyed a purple patch in the summer.

Australian Hend came into Sunday with a one-shot lead but a birdie on the first saw Noren join him on 13 under through three holes.

England's Richard Bland was then two shots back, a shot clear of David Drysdale and Lee Westwood and two ahead of Alejandro Cañizares and Andrew Johnston.

The first used to play as a par five and is one of the toughest holes on the course but Noren put his approach to ten feet and rolled in a left-to-righter to quickly jump into a share of the lead.

Noren then needed a smart up-and-down from a greenside bunker to stay at 13 under on the third, while Bland made his first birdie of the day.

Drysdale fired the low round of the day with a 64 on Saturday and picked up where he left off, holing lengthy putts on the first and second to get to ten under after four holes.

Westwood began the week with a disappointing 72 but the 1999 champion surged through the field with rounds of 66-67 and picked up birdies on the third, fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth on his front nine.

Johnston and Cañizares were level for their rounds after three holes, with Oliver Fisher leading the group at eight under.

The Englishman made eagles on the seventh and ninth as he turned in 29 to be six under for the day after 14 holes, with Mikko Ilonen, Li Haotong and Romain Wattel also five off the lead.
