Hero Indian Open - Day one digest

Eugenio Chacarra had the good vibes flowing, Andy Sullivan found a four-legged friend and Veer Ahlawat enjoyed his home course again at the 2026 Hero Indian Open.

Here is everything you need to know from the first day's play at DLF G&CC.

Good vibes for Chacarra

Eugenio Chacarra goes into the second round of his title defence one stroke behind leader Freddy Schott. The German, winner of last month's Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, made eight birdies in a six-under-par 66 with Chacarra recovering from two bogeys in his first five holes to shoot five under. The Spaniard said: "The good vibes came out on Monday, I came out here and I started hitting it good, so I need to come here more often! It’s a week that changed my life, I’m here because of last (year). I think it’s a tournament that when I talk to my manager, one day if I’m on the PGA TOUR or another tour, I’ll always love to come back."

Fun and games for Sullivan

Andy Sullivan had an eventful round, and came within the thickness of the pin of capping it with a superb birdie at the 17th - at least he and his caddie could see the funny side.

Earlier, Sullivan was lining up his shot from one of DLF's fearsome bunkers when he backed away due to an unusual delay, as a large dog bounded across the course just in front of him!

Dantorp almost produces great escape

The bunkers at DLF G&CC are notoriously punishing and even if you avoid the sand itself, you can still be left with some extraordinary lies. Jens Dantorp made the best of this spot, and almost produced something truly spectacular.

Nacho reads the slopes

Nacho Elvira's score of five over par was not what he hoped for but the Spaniard produced this moment of magic at the eighth to emphatically end a run of dropped shots.
