2012 saw world class golf return to Perth, with the inaugural ISPS HANDA Perth International taking place at Lake Karrinyup Country Club. With a total prize purse of US$2million, the European and PGA Tour of Australasia co-sanctioned event was the richest golfing prize in Australia.
Major Champions Jason Dufner and Charl Schwartzel were amongst the field, joined by Englishman Paul Casey and Bo Van Pelt, helping to form a highly-regarded international contingent. Van Pelt eventually won an all-American battle with Jason Dufner to take the title with a sizzling 16 under par aggregate winning total.
In 2013, the ISPS HANDA Perth International returned to Lake Karrinyup Country Club for the second consecutive year, hosting back-to-back European Tour winner Brett Rumford and defending US champion Van Pelt, as well as seven-time US PGA Tour winner Dustin Johnson. Joining them in the star-studded field was 2013 Presidents Cup International team member and four-time European Tour winner Branden Grace from South Africa. Against the talented international line-up, it was Jin Jeong from Korea who came out victorious after a play-off with Ross Fisher from England.
The third staging of the ISPS HANDA Perth International attracted its strongest field to date, led by Major Champions Charl Schwartzel (South Africa), Jason Dufner (United States) and Geoff Ogilvy (Australia) along with French Ryder Cup star Victor Dubuisson (France). In the end, it was the Dane Thorbjørn Olesen who took the title.
The Perth International returns to Lake Karrinyup Country Club in February 2016, when it will again be tri-sanctioned by The European Tour, Asian Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia.
