Howell confirmed for Belfry spectacular

England’s David Howell, making his eagerly-anticipated return from injury in Ireland this week, has confirmed his participation in The Quinn Direct British Masters at The Belfry from September 20-23.

Howell had a fantastic 2006 season when he moved into the Top Ten on the Official World Golf Ranking and became the first Englishman since Nick Faldo in 1989 to win the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club.

Back and wrist injuries forced him to miss almost three months of this season, but now Howell is back on the golf course and aiming to improve his ranking in The 2007 European Tour Order of Merit as well as looking ahead to The Quinn Direct British Masters, where his challengers for the coveted title and £1.8million prize fund will include fellow Englishman and Ryder Cup colleague Lee Westwood.

“I had a few injuries earlier this year, but I am now fighting fit and keen to get on to the legendary Brabazon Course at The Belfry for The Quinn Direct British Masters,” said Howell. “The names that have signed up for the tournament already mean it is sure to be a first class and exciting competition.”

The Quinn Direct British Masters in September will see the return of top level European Tour golf to The Belfry along with many of its biggest stars. Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler, Managing Director of promoters International Sports Management, said: “It is always exciting when another top British player confirms his spot at The Belfry. The stage is set for a fantastic battle and there are plenty more announcements from the world’s top golfers still to come yet.”
