Trevor Immelman claimed his second victory in an outstanding three week spell as he added the Dimension Data Pro-Am to his maiden European Tour victory at the South African Airways Open.
Sandwiched between his victories, Immelman was edged out in a thrilling six-man play-off at the dunhill championship in Johannesburg and his dramatic one stroke triumph in the Dimension Data Pro-Am moves the 23 year old further up the Official World Golf Ranking.
Immelman came through an arduous final day in which he played 32 holes to finish as the winner on 17 under par. "I could handle playing 32 holes today, but being in contention for the last three weeks took a lot out of me. Coming down the stretch I was shaking and didn't feel like myself," Immelman said.
"With all the rain delays and early starts to the rounds, I've been up at 04:15 the last two days and it's taken it out of me".
Immelman claimed victory following a magnificent charge by Andrew McLardy and a brave performance by American Bruce Vaughan.
Immelman said his performances over the past three weeks had convinced him that his game is now at a level where he can compete with the best in the world. "I've always believed I can play with the best. It was just a matter of me figuring it out in my own head. I was so young when I turned professional that I couldn't put the pieces together. But yeah, my game's certainly at a new level."
Darren Clarke closed with a disappointing 76 to finish tied for ninth on eight under par.
