Innovative 'International Indoor GolfSixes League Championship' introduces virtual golfing arena to young players

In a ground-breaking move for junior golf, the GolfSixes League is delighted to announce the successful completion of the first-ever International Indoor GolfSixes League Championship.

This innovative addition to the global GolfSixes League initiative saw 20 teams of young golfers from around the world compete in a virtual golfing environment, utilising TrackMan simulator technology and the Golf Genius scoring system.

Teams competed in the 2-Person scramble gross strokeplay format with 3 pairs making up a team just like “normal” GolfSixes League, across the 6-hole Golf Lounge Resort’s Red Course on TrackMan.

Netherlands Team Triumphs in Virtual Competition

Emerging victorious in this pioneering event after two rounds of competition were the juniors from “de Noordhollandse golfclub" (Sluispolder) in the Netherlands, comprising Amelie van Rems, Noa Sanders, Timi van der Stappen, Menno Huiberts, Jort Hartenberg, Xander Willems, and Lukas Groentjes with a +7 total.

Second place was Links Leuk Golfresort (Switzerland), third was Golf Club Horehledy (Czech Republic), and fourth was GC Bern (Switzerland) after a countback was applied having each finishing tied on +17.

The Sluispolder team‘s success highlights the global reach and inclusive nature of the GolfSixes League, bringing together young talents from different corners of the globe in friendly competition.

This was echoed by the Sluispolder team manager, Menno Huiberts who said: “What makes our victory unique is not just a list of individual achievements, but the joy and friendship that our team radiates. GolfSixes is about more than just competition; it's about having fun together, sharing a passion, and creating unforgettable memories. The low threshold and the opportunity to play as a team, along with a friend, make golf accessible and reduce competition stress.”

Expanding the GolfSixes League Horizons

GolfSixes League, known for its dynamic and accessible format, continues to grow, building on a successful 2022 pilot season that has now grown to a community of over 20 countries that operate GolfSixes League in various ways.

Alongside GolfSixes Mini League, which aims to bring the thrill of golf into schools and recreational settings, the Indoor Championship is the latest spinoff initiative that provides further diverse opportunities for all types of players to get involved with the initiative.

GSL’s continued expansion around the globe has been supported by The R&A, the Confederation of Professional Golf [CPG], the Ryder Cup European Development Trust (RCEDT), DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour – the leading bodies aligning in support of a development initiative for the first time.
