RSM presents the fourth episode from a series shining a light on key roles and personalities on the European Tour, this time profiling Official Starter, Alastair Scott - the voice of the first tee.
He’s the man in the green jacket, the ever-present at the start of every player’s first round. He’s the one man without whom play cannot get under way.
Scott’s unique job positions him at the heart of the action, consistently surrounded by the game’s brightest stars, an oasis of calm in an otherwise tense, adrenaline-fuelled environment.
As a former BBC cameraman turned director, with years of experience in the chair at Wimbledon and The Open, the Scot has something of a back story in top-class sport.
His latest career requires no less professionalism, preparation and attention to detail – not least in the myriad international pronunciations he encounters day-in-day out on the European Tour…
After the opening episode trackedEmma Cabrera Bello, a member of the European Tour’s Player Relations team, the secondrevisited Carnoustie with 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie, while the third looked at the unique player-caddie relationship withMartin Kaymer’s long-time bag-man, Craig Connelly.
The series is profiling characters from across the golfing spectrum and follows on from European Tour Official Supporter RSM’s successful academic performance study completed in 2017, which identified insights into player performances and time spent over the ball.
