The International Federation of PGA Tours and Invensys plc, a global electronics, software and systems company, have reached an agreement whereby Invensys becomes an Official Sponsor of the World Golf Championships.

“We are delighted that Invensys has joined the family of Official Sponsors of the World Golf Championships,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem on behalf of the International Federation of PGA Tours. “This is a company that has shown a strong commitment to golf, first as title sponsor of the Invensys Classic at Las Vegas and now in their commitment to the World Golf Championships.”

Allen Yurko, Chief Executive Officer of Invensys, said: “The World Golf Championships provides Invensys with a powerful international marketing forum that will greatly enhance our commitment to build a world-class brand. We are excited to expand our partnership with the golf world to include the International Federation of PGA Tours and the support of events across the US, Asia, Europe, Japan, Australia and South America."

It was announced in April 2000, that Invensys will sponsor the PGA Tour event in Las Vegas, NV., for the next three years. That event will now be known as the

Invensys Classic at Las Vegas, and will offer a purse of $4.25 million in 2000.

The World Golf Championships are sanctioned and organized by the International Federation of PGA Tours, which includes the Asian PGA, European Tour, Japan Golf Tour, PGA TOUR, PGA Tour of Australasia and Southern Africa Tour.

The first World Golf Championships event of the year, the Andersen Consulting Match Play Championship, was held in February with Darren Clarke earning the

title, defeating Tiger Woods in the Championship Match. The NEC Invitational will be played Aug. 21-27 at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, USA. The

American Express Championship will again be held at Valderrama, Spain the week of Nov. 7-12, with the EMC World Cup to follow a month later at Buenos Aires
