ISCO Championship | Tournament guide

All you need to know about this week's ISCO Championship which forms part of a double-header alongside the Genesis Scottish Open on the DP World Tour.

Hurstbourne Country Club

The ISCO Championship is the first of back-to-back events where DP World Tour stars can go and test their game on the PGA TOUR.

Since 2022, as part of the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR's Strategic Alliance, the event has offered DP World Tour members not in the field for the Genesis Scottish Open the chance to compete in the United States.

Here, we take a look at what it is all about ahead of a potentially life-changing week.

History

The event began life in 2015 as the Barbasol Championship, the PGA TOUR's alternate event running alongside The Open Championship. It held that space in the schedule until 2021 and was won by Scott Piercy, Aaron Baddeley, Grayson Murray, Troy Merritt, Jim Herman and Séamus Power.

It joined the DP World Tour schedule in 2022 and became the alternate event for the now co-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open, with Trey Mullinax being the first winner of the DP World Tour era.

Swede Vincent Norrman was the winner in 2023 and the following year the Barbasol Championship became the ISCO Championship, with Harry Hall spectacularly chipping in on the third play-off hole to claim victory and a DP World Tour card.

American William Mouw was the winner in 2025.

Where is it held?

Traditionally staged in the United States' south, this will be the second year that Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky has hosted the event.

The 7,056-yard, par-70 Championship Course was originally designed by Chick Adams, with a redesign and renovation by Keith Foster in 2004.

The spectacular clubhouse is a former farmhouse that was first expanded into a 60-room mansion before taking on its current role.

The first three editions of the event were held at RJT Trail Grand National in Alabama before it moved to Kentucky and Keene Trace Golf Club from 2018-2014.

What is the format?

The ISCO Championship has a standard 72-hole stroke play format with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties.

What is at stake?

The prizes on offer this week are potentially life-changing, with the champion gaining a winner's exemption on both the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR and a place in the field for the 2027 US PGA Championship.

Also at stake are points on both the Race to Dubai and the FedEx Cup, as well as a US$4,000,000 purse.

There are 3,500 Race to Dubai points and 300 FedEx Cup points up for grabs, while the event is also the second of five on the DP World Tour's Closing Swing.

The player who tops the Swing Rankings after the Nexo Championship in August will gain entry into all events on the Back 9 and a US$200,000 bonus.

The leading player on the swing not already exempt will also earn a place in the field at the BMW PGA Championship.

Who is the defending champion?

Mouw carded a brilliant closing 61 12 months ago to surge up the leaderboard and claim a one-shot victory.

The American was making just his second start on the DP World Tour - and only 20th on his home PGA TOUR - but completely changed his career trajectory as he finished ahead of countryman Paul Peterson.

"I'm thrilled to be a PGA Tour champion, first one," said Mouw.

"Yeah, it was quite the long wait. We finished early. My caddie, Steve, and my wife were able to go to the range and kind of just do our own thing, joke around a little bit.

"But I was mentally ready for a play-off, and if it came to that, I was ready. But that wasn't the case and I'm just blessed to be the winner."

Which DP World Tour stars are teeing it up?

There are 50 places in the field available to DP World Tour players and a host of emerging stars and established names have made their way across the Atlantic.

Dane Jacob Skov Olesen and China's Wenyi Ding are both playing in just their second seasons on Tour but have made big impacts so far and are seeking maiden wins.

Multiple winners Jorge Campillo, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Richie Ramsay, Brandon Stone, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Renato Paratore and James Morrison are also in action, while Marcus Helligkilde continues his return from injury.

Add in the likes of Brandon Robinson Thompson, Romain Langasque, Marcus Kinhult and Sebastian Söderberg and the DP World Tour challenge could be a strong one.
