The 2008 European Tour International Schedule now boasts a total of 53 events with the announcement of the €1,100,000 Joburg Open, to be played over Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club from January 10-13.
Argentina’s Ariel Canete won the inaugural Joburg Open at the beginning of 2007 and will return to South Africa to defend his title.
The 2008 Joburg Open will once again be a joint-sanctioned event between The European Tour and the Sunshine Tour and will be the third tournament of its kind on the 2008 Schedule, following the Alfred Dunhill Championship and the South African Airways Open.
A total of 51 out of the 53 events on The 2008 European Tour International Schedule will count towards the Order of Merit, with The Ryder Cup and Omega Mission Hills World Cup taking the total number of tournaments to 53.
