Johnny Keefer, Michael Thorbjornsen and Victor Perez have qualified for The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale though the Genesis Scottish Open.

Keefer finished tied for third place on 13-under-par, while Thorbjornsen was one shot further back on 12-under-par. Perez took the final qualifying place, finishing tied for ninth place on 11-under-par.

Keefer has played in the first three Majors of the year but came into this week set to miss out on The Open before an impressive 64 on Saturday propelled him into contention and he followed up with a closing 67 to book his place in his first Open.

"It means a lot," Keefer said afterwards. "I played the first three Majors and going into this week, I wasn't in The Open. Not only a great result but also getting into The Open is just tons of fun.

"I knew the position I was in. But at the same time, I knew if I just stuck to my process and committed everything, regardless of the result, I was ready to, you know, hang my hat on that.

"Honestly just taking it all in. I've heard it's fantastic. Probably one of the best Open venues ever. So I'm just super excited for it. Super excited to play more links golf, and you know, enjoy the weather."

Thorbjornsen will also make his Open debut at Royal Birkdale next week after producing a flurry of birdies on his back nine on Sunday.

The American held a share of the overnight lead alongside Matt Fitzpatrick after Saturday's delayed third round, before returning in the morning to finish an impressive 65 to remain in contention heading into the final round.

Two bogeys in his first three holes derailed his chances in the tournament, but he recovered with a birdie at the seventh to stay in one of The Open spots. A final bogey of the week came at 11, but he then followed back-to-back birdies at the 14th and 15th holes with a 19-foot birdie putt at the 17th to secure a second week of links golf.

"I'm very excited. A lot's happened in the past hour, 2-over through 14 holes or so, I can't remember, but I made a few birdies coming down the stretch. Things didn't feel great and I kind of found something and stuck to it and very happy with how things ended up.

"Since I wasn't in prior to this week, I mean, we had into no plans, no accommodations setup or anything. So it's going to be a little bit of a mess the next 24 hours but these are all good problems."

Victor Perez will make his fifth appearance in The Open and first at Birkdale next week, returning to the final Major of the year after missing out in 2025.

Starting his round with back-to-back birdies, Perez added more gains at the seventh and eighth holes to close out a four-under front nine of 31. After eight pars in a row, Perez admitted that he found himself watching the big grandstands as he began to think about Open qualification and was happy to get over the line.

"Obviously, I knew I needed a really good day today and obviously a bit of luck with the guys ahead," he said.

"I got off to a good start, which then kind of puts you in a good position and then the end was definitely challenging. I think you tighten up a little bit, you start looking at the board and you're also playing in a way. It was quite good that the leaders were so far off that that's all I had to play for really, because there's no way I was going to win the tournament. I think when they got to 15 under, there's no way I was going to get there anyway. So it was about kind of managing the end.

"I think the last four holes, because there's a big grandstand on the par three on the right and you can see the big screen. And then I saw that they were kind of far ahead and then you can start paying attention kind of like where you stand, which I think some people say they don't like it, some people like it. I like to look to just have an idea of what's required, especially in situations like that. So yeah, it was helpful and it seems like it was good enough."

Asked what he likes about The Open and what he's looking forward to, he replied: "Everything about it.

"I think the history and, you know, just playing those massive events and the fields and just like everything around the place makes it so special. And I mean, Birkdale is one of the top venues as well, which I haven't done. So I'm looking forward to the challenge. It might be a quick preparation, but better to have a quick one than no golf at all."

The Last-Chance Qualifier being played at Royal Birkdale on Monday 13 July will offer the final place in The 154th Open.
