Johnson One Clear in Memphis

Swede Richard S Johnson takes a one stroke lead into the final round of the FedEx St Jude Classic, shooting a two under par 69 at the TPC at Southwind, Memphis, Tennessee, to move to 14 under par 199 as he chases his first title on the US PGA Tour in his 14th start.

His fellow Swede Fredrik Jacobson, who finished as leading European alongside Justin Rose in a joint fifth place in the US Open Championship a fortnight ago, is also very much in the hunt for the title after a three under par 68 took him within two shots of Johnson’’s lead in a share of third place on 12 under par 201.

"Oh absolutely, I'm very happy how I performed. I hit the ball very solidly today. Under the amount of pressure I thought I was going to be on, I thought I did a great job. To shoot 2 under and still not putt well feels very well," said Johnson, winner of the 2002 ANZ Championship on The European Tour International Schedule.

He leads David Toms by one after the American Ryder Cup player birdied two of his final three holes for a 65. He will be looking for his second victory this year and ninth in his career.
