Jordan Smith benefitting from American adventure at Genesis Scottish Open

Jordan Smith hopes the experience he has gained by being a dual member this season will hold him in good stead as he goes in search of the biggest win of his career at the Genesis Scottish Open.

The Englishman is no stranger to the biggest stages on the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, with this being his record 52nd appearance out of a possible 54 in the Rolex Series.

This season has also seen him tee it up in Majors, THE PLAYERS Championship and Signature Events across the Atlantic, while reachng a career-hgh 65th on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Over the last decade, he has been one of the DP World Tour's most consistent performers but admitted earlier this season that "maybe I haven’t won as many tournaments as people think".

His two DP World Tour career victories seem scant reward for his performance over the years but after moving to nine under after 36 holes at The Renaissance Club, he hopes that being an international player may be just what he needs to take the next step.

"I think last year it gave me a lot of confidence," he said after carding a second-round 63 that was the lowest of the week so far. "And it's just been nice being on the PGA TOUR playing with the best guys in the world, and I mean, they look after you so well out there. Play on some of the best golf courses in the world.

"It's been a lot of fun. But still got a bit of work to do."

He added: "I was really excited to get back here. I've spent ten seasons on the DP World Tour, so it was nice coming back to see friends and some familiar faces at work out here.

"Yeah, I was really, really looking forward to this week and next week."

Smith has returned to action after a short break having not teed it up since the RBC Canadian Open almost a month ago but has showed no signs of rust.

After starting at the tenth on Friday, he rattled off four birdies in a row from the 11th and added another on the 17th to turn in 30.

He then made another gain on the second before sandwiching a bogey on the sixth with a pair of birdies to hit the summit.

"You've still got to hit the fairways and greens, but I think the putting today was a lot better than yesterday," he said.

"Ball-striking yesterday was probably one of the best I've done for a long time, which is nice considering I've had three weeks off.

"So yeah, it was nice to see that and really enjoying that, really relaxed. Nice to see some putts go in today.

"I think if I can keep the same attitude I've had for the last two days, I'll be very happy with that. I think the swing is in a good place. Just hope that putter stays as hot as it was today."
