Justin Rose has won his second Asprey Golfer of the Month Award for 2002 following victories in the The Crowns tournament on the Japan Golf Tour and the Victor Chandler British Masters on The European Tour International Schedule. He earns £1,000 charity donation to The Golf Foundation.

The 21 year old Englishman, who has won four tournaments on three continents in 2002, had rounds of 64, 70, 73 and 69 to win The Crowns at the Wago Course, Nagoya, with a 14 under par total of 266 and rounds of 70, 69, 65 and 65 to win the Victor Chandler British Masters on The Marquess Course at Woburn Golf and Country Club with a 19 under par total of 269 - one ahead of Ian Poulter. He was also third behind Tiger Woods and Colin Montgomerie in the Deutsche Bank - SAP Open TPC of Europe.

Rose was voted the Asprey Golfer of the Month for May - he also won the Award in January - at a meeting hosted by Marqués de Riscal and held at the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club. The panel also considered Angel Cabrera (Benson and Hedges International Open), Anders Hansen (Volvo PGA Championship) and Malcolm Mackenzie (Novotel Perrier Open de France), all winners on The European Tour International Schedule, and Colin Montgomerie, who was a remarkable 60 under par in five tournaments during May which included finishing runner-up in both the Deutsche Bank - SAP Open TPC of Europe and the Volvo PGA Championship.

Edward Asprey, New Business Director of Asprey London, the ultimate authentic British luxury lifestyle house, said: “This was an exceptional month which gave the panel a real examination. Justin, however, has enjoyed an outstanding year and it is the opinion of many that his victory in the Victor Chandler British Masters truly lit the blue touch paper on a long and rewarding international career. He has immense character and charisma with the talent to match.

“Nevertheless such was the level of performances during the month of May that Justin came home by a short head against a number of impressive contenders. Moreover we are especially delighted to announce that Malcolm Mackenzie will receive a special award to mark his achievement of winning on his 509th European Tour tournament appearance. It speaks volumes for his motivation, commitment and skill.”

The Asprey Golfer of the Month Award is presented to a European Tour Member each month from January to November for his performances on The European Tour International Schedule and in worldwide competition. Other winners of the Asprey Award this season have been José Maria Olazábal (February), Ernie Els (March) and Retief Goosen (April).
