Karlsson helps charity putt total to £9,227

Swede Robert Karlsson added another £1,000 to the Genworth Financial ‘Putts for Charity’ initiative when he successfully holed his putt on the specially constructed putting green in the tented village.

After averaging 27 putts on the first two days of the BMW PGA Championship, as revealed by the Genworth Financial Statistics, Karlsson was confident of holing the putt which has helped take the total raised on the first two days to £9,227.  Genworth Financial, BMW and GOLFAID have teamed up this week to help raise money for worthwhile causes.

Karlsson said: “After only 24 putts on the first day I felt fairly certain I would make this one, but when there is £1,000 at stake  and I am representing GOLFAID and the hopes of the Rainbow Trust, the pressure builds up. Having a foundation myself, Opening Key, I know how much work goes into raising funds and I am delighted to support Genworth Financial’s Putts for Charity in this way.”
