Kaymer putts his way to glory

Martin Kaymer’s consistency on the greens, highlighted by his winning putt in the play-off, proved to be the foundation for his victory in the Open de France ALSTOM. The Genworth Financial Statistics for the week show the German was fourth in the Putts Per Green In Regulation category with an average of 1.671 per hole.

Kaymer was also eighth in the Putts Per Round category with an average of 28.5. The 24 year old’s hot putter was also matched by his iron play. He made an average of 79.2 per cent of Greens In Regulation, finishing ninth in that category, and he made 100 per cent of his sand saves.

While Lee Westwood, who he defeated on the first extra hole, finished top of the Greens in Regulation category and also excelled off the tee, it was Kaymer’s strength with the putter that propelled him to his third European Tour victory.
