Ken Schofield Succeeds Sir Michael Bonallack as Golf Foundation President

Ken Schofield CBE, former Executive Director of The European Tour, is succeeding Sir Michael Bonallack as the new President of the Golf Foundation, the national charity committed to making golf accessible to young people.

Mike Round, Chief Executive of the Golf Foundation, said: “Ken Schofield has long been a supporter of the Golf Foundation as both Executive Director of the Tour and as a golf lover and friend to junior golf. With Ken’s knowledge and experience of the golf world and how it operates, his insight into golf development and the goodwill in which he is held as an ambassador for the game, I am sure he will make an excellent President. We are all delighted he has taken on this role after the great work done by Sir Michael.”

Ken Schofield is officially elected President on Thursday, 11th May, at the annual general meeting of the Golf Foundation, held at The De Vere Belfry during The Quinn Direct British Masters. On the same day, outgoing President Sir Michael Bonallack presents the Foundation’s annual awards for 2005 as the last official duty of his five years at the helm.

John Uzielli, Chairman of the Golf Foundation, said: “Sir Michael has been an outstanding friend to the Foundation and his wise counsel and unique experience has been invaluable. We thank him very much for his immense contribution to our success. We now welcome Ken as our new President and wish him a very happy and successful tenure of office.”

Ken Schofield joins a distinguished list of presidents of the Golf Foundation, which was founded in 1952. Past presidents include Bernard Gallacher OBE and Sir Henry Cotton.
