Kenneth Ferrie Wins the Smurfit European Open and Climbs to World Number 115

Kenneth Ferrie won for the second time on the European Tour as he took the Smurfit European Open title by two strokes from Graeme Storm and Colin Montgomerie. Ferrie improves his World Ranking by 211 places to 115th.

Jim Furyk went one better than last week as he won the Cialis Western Open beating Tiger Woods into second place and in the process climbing six places to World Number Eight.

Kazuhiko Hosokawa won the Japan Golf Tour Championship after a play-off with David Smail and Yasuharu Imano. Hosokawa is now World Number 249.

The weeks other winners were Esteban Toledo at the Lake Erie Charity Classic on the Nationwide Tour, Benn Barham won the Open Mahou de Madrid on the European Challenge Tour while Matt McQuillan was victorious at the Telus Edmonton Open on the Canadian Tour.
