American Anthony Kim holed a pitch of 101 yards to take a three up lead over Australian Robert Allenby with nine holes to play in their hard-fought Volvo World Match Play Championship semi-final in Spain.
And in the other game England's Ross Fisher came from two down to be one up on Masters Tournament champion Angel Cabrera with ten to go.
Allenby and Kim met in the Presidents Cup singles earlier this month, with Kim winning five and three.
They were level at lunch and Kim then won the next two before the Melbourne golfer came back to level three holes later.
However, 24 year old Kim sank a ten footer for birdie at the 24th, took the next with a par and then produced his pitch-in on the 352 yard 27th.
Cabrera was three up after 13, but Fisher got back to level on the 18th and took the lead for the first time with an approach to four feet at the 25th.
The Argentinian should have got back on terms at the long next, but three-putted for par.
The quartet were playing for high stakes. Reaching the final guaranteed €450,000, with the winner taking home €750,000, while third place was worth €250,000 and fourth €200,000.
