His Majesty, King Juan Carlos I of Spain, has accepted the Honorary Presidency of the 2010 Open de España Masculino, to be played at the Real Club de Golf in Seville from April 29-May 2.
The decision of the King enhances the status of the event, which attracted crowds of around 40,000 when it was last staged at the Seville venue in 2008. King Juan Carlos continues to show his support for sport in general and golf in particular, expressed in diverse actions which show the commitment to the development of sports activities in Spain.
In March 2006, the King attended the official inauguration of the National Golf Centre in Madrid, home of the Real Spanish Federation of Golf. He also recently accepted the Honorary Presidency of the Spanish bid to host The 2018 Ryder Cup.
