Brooks Koepka continued his remarkable rise with a first US PGA Tour title at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Koepka carded a five under par 66 in his final round to end on 15 under, just clear of his fellow Americans Bubba Watson (65) and Ryan Palmer (66) and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama (67), who all shared second place on 14 under.
The American won four times on The Challenge Tour before claiming a maiden European Tour victory at the Turkish Airlines Open in November en route to winning the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award.
And the 24 year old added a first title on the other side of the Atlantic during a frenetic finish in Arizona.
Five different players held a share of the lead at some stage over the closing holes, with Scotland’s Martin Laird falling out of contention when a bogey at the 17th was followed by a double at the closing hole after finding water.
But Koepka, who holed a 50 foot eagle putt on the 15th, held his nerve and was confirmed as champion when Matsuyama missed a birdie attempt from 17 feet on the last which would have forced a play-off.
Koepka said: "It feels amazing. The last few weeks I've put in a lot of hard work, changing my putting stroke completely and everything seems to be going right. I'm happy to get the win."
