Alexander Levy continued his birdie blitz at Golf Resort Bad Griesbach as he opened up a four-shot lead in the second round of the Porsche European Open.
With nearly seven hours lost to fog delays on days one and two, half the field would not be able to start their second rounds until Saturday morning, but Levy produced a stunning display of scoring in excellent conditions in Germany.
The Frenchman had to complete his first round on Friday morning, making five birdies on the back nine to get to nine under and take the first-round lead.
He returned to the tenth once again to begin round two and picked up five further gains to turn in 31 and get to 14 under, establishing a comfortable advantage over South Africa's Jean Hugo.
Local favourite Martin Kaymer, England's Ross Fisher and South Korean Soomin Lee were then all at nine under.
Levy has struggled with a wrist injury this season, missing long spells of the summer, but has been in fine form since his return at the start of the month and finished seventh at last week's Italian Open.
The 26 year old flew out of the blocks in round two, starting birdie-birdie-birdie and then holing a 15-footer on the 14th - a hole he had chipped in on earlier in the day.
A stunning tee-shot to four feet then handed him a 14th birdie in 26 holes on the 17th.
Hugo made an even faster start than Levy, birdieing the first, second, third and fourth before adding another on the sixth to sit at five under for the round after seven holes.
Kaymer, finalising his preparations for the Ryder Cup, had birdies on the tenth, 12th, 13th, 14th and 16th in his first eight holes while Fisher had gains on the tenth, 12th and 15th.
Lee continued the theme of quick starts with an eagle on the tenth and added birdies on the 12th and 14th to move through the field.
American David Lipsky picked up five shots in 11 holes to sit at eight under alongside English duo Richard Bland and Matthew Southgate, Australian Jason Scrivener and Austria's Bernd Wiesberger - who was due to start his second round at 0920 on Saturday.
Wales' Phillip Price made the 36th hole-in-one of the season as the 2003 champion aced the 14th from 193 yards with a five iron in his first appearance of the season.
