Linn Grant and Madelene Sagström raring to go for test against DP World Tour stars in Sweden

Linn Grant and Madelene Sagström are excited to test their games against stars of the DP World Tour when they form part of a strong home challenge at the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed in Sweden.

The Solheim Cup-winning teammates are teeing it up at the fourth edition of the innovative tournament, co-sanctioned with the Ladies European Tour (LET), as a field of 78 men and 78 women compete at Vasatorps Golfklubb for one prize fund and one trophy.

Grant made history on home soil at the event in 2022 when she became the first female winner of a DP World Tour tournament, storming to a nine-shot victory at Halmstad Golf Club.

Her fourth appearance at this week's tournament is made all the more special as it is being held in her hometown of Helsingborg, having attended a local boarding school at the same time as fellow LET member Maja Stark along with DP World Tour winner and Ryder Cup star Ludvig Åberg.

"It's very exciting, I love this week," the five-time LET winner said.

"It's so fun to play at home and with this format as well.

"I hope to have a lot of support, see some old friends and familiar faces.

"Just being here [is great]. Last year, I got sick in the middle of the event which was such a bummer.

"But like I said, I just, I love the week, so it doesn't really matter how I play."

Like Grant, her compatriot Sagström comes into the tournament off the back of playing at the U.S. Open last week at Lancaster Country Club and the 31-year-old is happy to be back in her homeland.

Sagström made her professional debut at this week's venue in 2015 at the Helsingborg Open on the Ladies European Tour and admits there is a sense of her career coming "full circle".

"It's cool to be back and it was really cool last year to play my first event in Sweden since then and now being back here it's probably even better," she said.

"I know what I'm in for this week and playing with the guys was so much fun last year, so I look forward to it."

On the men's side, DP World Tour winners Alexander Björk, Vincent Norrman, Sebastian Söderberg and Jesper Svensson are all teeing it up on home soil as England's Dale Whitnell defends the title he won at Ullna Golf Club last year.

Sagström, a three-time Solheim Cup player, is competing in the tournament for the second year in a row after finishing joint 12th last season on her debut.

"I think that it's always kind of interesting to see where you stand against that kind of field because you kind of know what you do when you play against the girls," she added.

"But playing against the men, you have no idea. So, I was really happy with how it played.

"For me, that was really close to my hometown, so playing in front of a lot of family and friends was super fun. I'm hoping for a lot of fans to come up this week.

"I might not have too many that grew up with me, but there still should be a lot of Swedes out. So, it's going to be interesting."
