Local prodigy Tom Whitehouse has been offered an invitation to compete in The Daily Telegraph Dunlop Masters at the Marriott Forest of Arden next week.
The 25 year old, from Coleshill, played for Warwickshire at county level and went on to represent England, winning the Spanish Open Amateur Championship in 2001 and turning professional in 2002.
Going from strength to strength, Whitehouse won the PGA Europro Tour Order of Merit 2003 and went on to win his European Tour card for the 2004 season through the Qualifying School. Last year he played both The European Tour and the Challenge Tour, securing his first European Challenge Tour victory last October at the Estoril Challenge Open in Portugal.
He is currently eighth on the Challenge Tour Rankings. His appearance at The Daily Telegraph Dunlop Masters will give him the chance to make a name for himself on The European Tour and also enable his supporters to watch him compete on home soil.
Andrew ‘Chubby’’ Chandler, of promoters International Sports Management commented: “We are delighted to offer Tom this chance to play at The Daily Telegraph Dunlop Masters – it’’s always great to see local players compete in a tournament and creates a fantastic atmosphere amongst the crowd.”
Whitehouse will join the extensive list of world-class players from May 12-15 at the Marriott Forest of Arden, Birmingham, including Darren Clarke, Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie, Paul McGinley, Ian Poulter, Ian Woosnam, Thomas Bjorn and David Howell.
