Lonard and Sandelin Qualify for US Open

Peter Lonard and Jarmo Sandelin have both qualified for the US Open Championship, bringing the number of European Tour players in the field so far to 25.

Both players will join the starting line up at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa on June 14-17 after successfully graduating from sectional qualifying held at The Lakes Golf and Country Club and Double Eagle, Westerville, Ohio. They join the 23 players who were fully exempt.

Sandelin shot rounds of 66-70 while Lonard fired 66-71 to claim their place in the 101st US Open Championship.

New Zealand’’s Frank Nobilo narrowly missed out in an eight way play-off for the remaining two places while other European Tour Members were also not so fortunate with Greg Norman Holden International champion Aaron Baddeley and Geoff Ogilvy both missing out by a shot and Stephen Allan a further shot back.
