Lundberg putts his way to glory in Russia

Much was made over the week in Russia about the excellence of the putting surfaces at Le Meridien Moscow Country Club and one man who certainly made the most of them was eventual champion Mikael Lundberg.

A glance at the Genworth Financial Statistics shows that the 34 year old Swede was in imperious form on the greens throughout the entire four days of competition, finishing top of both the Putts per Greens in Regulation category and the Putts per Round category.

Lundberg had an average of 27 putts per round over the course of the competition while second placed José Manuel Lara of Spain had 29.7 and third placed Benn Barham of England had 29.2 to both finish outside the top 15.

Interestingly, both Lara and Barham finished ahead of Lundberg in the Driving Distance category; all of which once again proves the old adage that you drive for show, but putt for dough.
